Located in County Donegal on the northwestern coast of Ireland near the village of Teelin, Slieve League offers the second highest cliffs in Ireland - which are also some of the tallest cliffs in all of Europe.
Our trip to Slieve League was short but memorable. Slieve League offers cliffs that are actually taller than the Cliffs of Moher, but I wouldn’t choose one over the other. The hiking trail at Slieve League takes you up steep stairs to walk along the cliffline. You are treated to panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the towering cliffs that form the shoreline.
Our hike started at a parking area at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the trailhead. You can actually drive to a second parking area higher up right at the trailhead, but the road was blocked off when we arrived so we walked it. We had limited time at Slieve League so only did a small portion of this walk, but we hiked enough to understand it’s difficult but the juice is well worth the squeeze. The views are breathtaking!
