This hike was a spur-of-the-moment detour when we were driving from Edinburgh to Inverness, and we are so glad we took it!
St. Cyrus Nature Reserve lies on the North Sea, offering towering volcanic cliffs, flowering grasslands, and stretches of beautiful beach. You can find a variety of wildflowers and birds as you hike over the sand dunes to the sea rolling into the shore.
We hiked the Beach Trail from the Visitor’s Center and connected with the Estuary Walk to complete a circular route. The dunes are wild and beautiful, and we saw a variety of colorful birds on the Estuary Walk.
